Sweet Sexy Sadie by Christine Young ~ Review and Giveaway

BLURB:

From the first time Sadie’s eyes met those of Brody McKenna in the hot Sierra Madre Mountains, theirs was a potent attraction—not gentle, slow, and easy, but hot, hard, and all-consuming. The daughter of a dysfunctional family, Sadie had dreams no man could wrench from her with hot sex and an all-consuming passion. She’d challenge this alpha male with all the strength she possessed. But her red hair, fiery temperament, and indomitable spirit obsessed Brody...and he knew he had to find a way to show her he was more than he appeared and convince her to make a life with him.

Excerpt:

"Wait here and don't do anything foolish," Brody told her, his mind racing with all the possible scenarios. Perhaps he should send Carr and Angel after the devil and he should stay and guard Sadie.

"I promise." She smiled at him then set her hand against his chest, her fingers spreading over his heart.

"You 'bout done?" Carr pushed his hat back from his forehead and appeared as impatient as hell. "The rest of us are waiting. Or are you afraid of the dreaded Amazonian devil?"

"None of your business, little bro. And you know I'm not afraid to fight the devil."

But I'm terrified for Sadie and Lyn.

"It is when I'm putting my life in danger for you." Carr tapped his gloved hands against the sides of his legs.

Angel chuckled as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Don't start the fight here. Need to conserve energy."

"Lyn, don't let her out of your sight." Brody strode toward his horse, his nerves ragged as hell.

"Will do." Lyn acted as if that was a no brainer. She walked closer to Sadie. "We'll be connected at the hip."

Brody walked back and touched Sadie's cheek with the back of his hand. "I'll be done with the devil in no time at all. Stay in the house and with Lyn. We don't know what this guy is up to except he wants you. And the only way he can get to Sadie Monroe is to entice you away. Remember that. He will stop at nothing, disguise himself as one of us..."

"I'll be here and safe. I'm not going to leave the house for any reason."

A few seconds later the men were mounted and cantering away from the ranch. Brody looked back to see Sadie and Lyn watching them. Fear balled in his gut. Something didn't bode well, but he couldn't quite figure out what was wrong.

Instinct told him to turn back.
Duty kept him riding

"You seem a bit distant. What's wrong?" Angel asked.

"Don't like the feelings swimmin' in my gut."

Brody looked back to the ranch once more.

"You can stay here." Carr raised an eyebrow as if he understood Brody's apprehension.

"No, deep down I think the danger is out there, not lurking by the ranch. I pray I'm

right."

"Any time... If you change your mind, turn and ride back. No explanations are

needed," Angel said.
"Any time I change my mind?"

Brody knew he should be with Sadie, but he wasn't ready to leave these men, his brother and new friend, to fight this devil by themselves. Minutes ticked by and they seemed like hours, yet still they rode.

Miles from the ranch Brody inhaled the wind and caught no scent. The air was clean and hot. The wind was alive with songs of birds and animals--but not the Chullachaqui.

"Yeah, I don't smell anything either." Carr looked to his brother for confirmation. Angel gave it instead. "We're going the wrong way."

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book about the McKenna clan of jaguar shifters. It had lots of hot hot scenes so I'd only advise this one for adults.

There were some sweet moments, some sad, and some scary. Sadie was a newbie in a town where everyone knows everyone. She was there because she wanted to do research. She had issues trusting or getting close to others. She felt a connection with Brody and it really scared her.

Brody McKenna liked the sight of her right from the instant his eyes noticed her. After a short time spent with her he is sure that she's the one. :-) I thought Brody was pretty darn awesome. He was kind and caring. He also wasn't too afraid to say what he was feeling.

This book was relatively quick and I liked it. I'm eager to see what happens with Brody's sister Lyn and her dreams. In other words, I'll be following this series too.

I really liked the idea of the Amazonian devil. It was creepy but unique. When you read as many books as I do those that are unique tend to stand out all the more. This one did. :-)

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

    1. Catherine thanks for commenting. I debated several mythical devils and finally settled on this one. It made it easy to have her on a site in Peru.
